Document We Serve

Family Law Filings

Divorce petitions, custody papers, and other family law filings often involve serving someone the petitioner knows personally, which can add emotional complexity on top of the legal requirements. We handle these matters with discretion and care, while still meeting every service requirement the court expects.

Divorce petitions, custody papers, and other family law filings frequently involve serving someone the petitioner knows personally — a spouse, a co-parent, a family member — which can add real emotional weight on top of the legal requirements. Many courts also require or strongly prefer that service come from a neutral third party rather than either side of the case.

We approach these matters with discretion, scheduling attempts around work and family routines rather than creating unnecessary conflict. If a party has relocated or is avoiding service, we can support locating a current address so the case can move forward.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a family member or friend serve divorce papers instead of a process server?

Rules vary by jurisdiction, but many courts require or strongly prefer service by a neutral third party rather than someone connected to either party.

What if my ex-spouse is avoiding service to delay the case?

We can schedule multiple attempts at different times and locations, and advise on alternative service options if personal service isn't succeeding.
